A Nation Divided by Turmoil: Biden's Victory is America's Failure

Another long-winded, incoherent speech fraught with inaccuracies and false accusations.  As the polls have closed and ballots are meticulously being counted across key states, many deign to criminalize Trump for his boisterous proclamations and unorthodox leadership. However, the truth of the matter may be far more sinister than you care to imagine...Biden asserts that he and his party maintain the moral high ground in this tumultuous race for presidency. But do they really? In fact, the vast majority of Southern Democrats vehemently opposed a ban on slavery while the Republican party sought to win their freedom. Indeed, it may appear that times have changed... unless you bother to read the many defamatory statements made throughout Biden's long and storied political career -- statements targeting both women and African Americans. Although to be safe, let's assume his bigotry extended far beyond that which we've covered. So as it now seems more certain than ever that we'

Why American Oil Prices Have Dropped Below Zero...

If the gravity of our situation had ever been in doubt, here's further proof that things have gone to shit....

On Monday, the price of oil dropped below zero for the first time ever; and futures for U.S. crude oil delivered in May will hit a negative $37.36 per barrel. What sort of impact will this have on those who have already purchased large quantities of the stuff? Well, they'd essentially be forced to pay someone just to take it off their hands, as the demand has reached an all-time low.

An oil pump is extracting crude oil amidst a desolate backdrop....

Due to COVID-19's impact in the spheres of business and travel, many roads appear desolate as people abandon these oft-traversed paths due to government mandated quarantines. No leisurely strolls through the countryside or jet setting off to Paris until this pandemic has been eradicated. Which means, of course, that the need for oil has all but evaporated.

To quote the Wall Street Journal, "The historic low price reflects uncertainty about what buyers would even do with a barrel of crude in the near term. Refineries, storage facilities, pipelines and even ocean tankers have filled up rapidly since billions of people around the world began sheltering in place to slow the spread of the deadly coronavirus.”

With crude oil at an all-time low, you might be wondering why you're still shelling out $2 or more per gallon. The key word here is "crude." The cost of refining oil is what elevates it from a negative value; and with so many refineries temporarily closed, don't expect any huge breaks at the pump any time soon.

Of course, the silver lining to this otherwise appalling cloud is that air pollution and CO2 levels are experiencing a rapid decline as less people take to the open road. It goes without saying that as a species, we pose a terrible threat to this expansive blue marble we inhabit; and anything that mitigates the damage we wreak each day is of overall benefit to the planet.

Now, I'm not promoting this egregious virus as something positive
. Life is a precious gift -- it is fleeting and fragile, and we should treasure each and every moment of it. Yet it deeply saddens me that it has required a pandemic of this magnitude for the planet to receive even a momentary respite from our conscious and neverending assault...

What do you think about the current gas prices? Are you still being forced to commute to work despite the current situation? If not, how are you coping with the quarantine? Are you staying active at home? Until next time, stay safe!
